Tutorials: The Dream Editor:
This is a picture of Furcadia's dream editor screen. You get to this screen by pressing the "C" tab in your Furcadia program and then clicking on "Dream Editor". We thought it might help if we labeled some areas so that you'd know where to look on the screen as we discuss that things do.
When the dream editor pops up, you'll see a mini-map, a main editing map, and a short-cut pallet. You'll also notice in your "information" area that your map is 48 X 24. That's very tiny. Your first step is to make the map a little bigger. Hold down your Ctrl key and press G several times to widen the map and Ctrl Y several times to elongate the map. You can watch your map grow in the mini-map area.
In your shortcut pallet, click on a wall, a floor, or an object. You'll notice that whatever you click on appears in a window under your mini-map under Current Object. If you click on that object, that will bring up your choices of objects, floors, or walls. You can scroll through three pages of objects if you press the space bar to bring up the next page of goodies
Draw whatever you would like, placing walls, floors, or objects until you have the map the way you like it. Then click on File: Save. - that's at the very top of the screen.
Now you want the furre coming into your dream to come in at a certain place. While you're in the editor, put your cursor over the spot where you'd like a furre to come into the dream. When you have your cursor over the spot, look at your information box: under current X, and Current Y. For dragon speak, a position is always written X,Y. Remember where you want them to start at and type "D".
Here's the DS editor screen! We've labelled a couple of spots on it. For right now, you only need to know that all ds - all those lines of code you can pick from should go between the DSPK line and the EndTriggers line. The DSPK tells furcadia that the file it's reading is a DS file and to treat all the stuff it sees as ds - until it gets to the EndTriggers line - then it goes back to the top and looks at the whole file again and again.
You will see that there are already two lines of DS written for you. In it 10,10 refers to an X.Y position. Just delete the 10,10 and put in your own, X,Y that you got from looking at your dream editor - remember where you wanted that furre to land?.
Save the file by clicking on file and then Save. Try to avoid using "Save As" because the editor will automatically save the file to the name it needs.
Back in Furcadia (after you answer all the whispers you got while you were working on your dream XD ) Go to "A", "I", "A/I", or "FurN" to upload your dream – pick a spot that doesn't block anyone else's dream or a doorway or stair and then hold down Ctrl key and hit T.
In Furcadia you can also unload your dreams.
Go to the map that you uploaded your dream on and type `unload.
